Tween Bedroom

The Brief:

The bedroom belonged to a tween who had outgrown the room she had loved when she was younger and was ready for something that felt more grown-up.

The brief was to create a stylish space that reflected her changing tastes while still feeling comfortable and age appropriate, with additional storage incorporated to keep the room practical and uncluttered.

The Design:

A soft palette of lilac, white and neutral tones was used to give the bedroom a more sophisticated feel while retaining a sense of fun and personality.

Panelling was added to the wall behind the bed to create a focal point and introduce architectural detail. Laura Ashley’s Josette wallpaper in Amethyst was paired with coordinating Josette curtains, while the white Josette duvet brought the pattern onto the bed in a more subtle way.

An ottoman bed was chosen to provide valuable hidden storage without taking up additional floor space, helping to make the most of the bedroom. Furniture from Dunelm and Melody Maison was selected to complement the softer, more grown-up scheme.

Vogue-inspired prints were used as artwork, adding a fashionable finishing touch that reflected the personality of the room’s young owner.

The Result:

A fresh and more grown-up bedroom that feels appropriate for this next stage while still retaining a youthful personality. Practical storage, soft colour and carefully chosen decorative details have created a space that can continue to evolve as its owner grows.
